A little known fact is that Apartment 16 was the base for Sir Peter Blake and his team during New Zealand’s successful Americas Cup defence in 2000. Taking in the incredible panoramic views of the City of Sails Harbour that Apartment 16 offers, Sir Peter, together with members of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron held many secret meetings strategising their defence, before eventually becoming the first non-American team to successfully defend the America's Cup when they beat Prada 5–0.
